MSI, after the expiry of tariff exemptions, have increased the prices of their RTX 30 Series Ampere Graphics cards in the United States. ASUS did the same with their graphics cards and motherboards back in early January. MSI is selling the RTX 3060 Ti a $200 USD to $240 USD over the MSRP of $400 USD announced by NVIDIA for the card, which is a lot more than a 25% price hike over MSRP, which was expected after the new tariffs.

Please note that whenever MSRP is mentioned we are referring to the MSRP set by NVIDIA which is $399 USD for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, $499 USD for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, $699 USD for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and $1499 USD for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090.

As most of you already know the Trump Administration increased the tariff rates USA on electronic components imported from China in December resulting in prices for many PC components ranging from PC cases, CPU coolers to graphics cards. The effects of the new tariff began to start showing up in early January after ASUS announced that they were going to increase the prices of their Graphics cards as well as Motherboards due to increases in cost of components, operating costs, and logistical activities plus a continuation of import tariffs. ASUS also noted that additional models might increase in prices as we further move into Q1'21.

MSI GeForce RTX 30 Series Ampere Graphics Cards Price After New Tariff

All the graphics cards in the above screenshots are sold and shipped by Newegg and not by any 3rd party seller so the prices indicated are the new MSRP on the Ampere based RTX 30-Series graphics cards set by MSI after the new tariffs. As one can see only the MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ventus 2X and MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ventus 3X, both non-OC, are the only graphics card that are still adhering to the old MSRP of $499 USD and $699 USD respectively. But, hate to break it to you, you can expect those cards to go up in price too eventually.

The cheapest MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti listed on Newegg was the MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Ventus 2X OC graphics card listed for $599.99 USD which is a whopping $200 USD (50% price hike) over MSRP of $399 USD which was set by NVIDIA for the RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards and the MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Gaming X Trio costs $639.99 USD. Though you can expect a more cheap RTX 3060 Ti from MSI in the form of MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Twin Fan and Twin Fan OC though do not expect this card to be anywhere close to MSRP either.

As we stated earlier the cheapest (for now) RTX 3070 graphics card from MSI is the MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Ventus 2X at $499 USD but expect this card to go up in price soon. Apart from that there are 4 other models listed of the RTX 3060 Ti from MSI in the form of MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Ventus 2X OC at $739.99 ($240 USD / 48% over MSRP), Ventus 3X OC at 739.99 USD ($240 USD / 48% over MSRP), Gaming X Trio at $779.99 USD ($280 USD / 56% over MSRP), Suprim at $819 USD ($320 USD / 64% over MSRP) & Suprim X at $859.99 USD ($360 USD / 72% over MSRP).

Coming to the RTX 3080 variants from MSI, the MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ventus 3X OC is the only $699.99 USD card that is listed at the MSRP but again expect this price to go up sooner than later. The MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ventus 3X OC is now listed for $1,059 USD ($260 USD or 32.5% over MSRP) where as the Gaming X Trio is now listed for $1,099.99 USD ($300 USD or 37.5% over MSRP) and the flagship Suprim X () is listed for $1,119 USD ($320 USD or 40% over MSRP).

As one would expect with the RTX 3090 graphics card, the only card that is being sold for the MSRP of the $1499 USD would be the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition. The MSI custom variants of the RTX 3090 graphics cards were already marked up from the MSRP and with the new tariffs the prices have gone even higher with the cheapest variant of RTX 3090 from MSI, the MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ventus 3X graphics card listed for $1,949.99 USD ($449.99 USD / 30% over MSRP), the Gaming X Trio variant going for $2,099 USD ($600 USD / 40% over MSRP), oddly enough the Ventus 3X OC variant is listed for $2,109.99 USD ($610 USD / 40.67% over MSRP) & last but not the least the MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Suprim X is listed for $2,229.99 USD ($730 USD / 48.67% over MSRP).

As stated earlier by ASUS, this increase in price could be a result of multiple factors like the Global pandemic, lack of availability of components that make a graphics card, issues in shipping and various other factors accompanied by the new tariffs. Though it is to be noted that the price increase from MSI is even higher compared to what was from ASUS last month.
