ASUS 3 weeks ago announced that they were going to launch 2 variants of the AMD Radeon RX 6800 graphics and today they have released the design and the specifications of the card on their official website. So lets get into it.

Design:

The ASUS ROG Strix Radeon RX 6800 has a 3 fan cooler shroud that covers up 2.9 PCIe slots worth of space and has the following dimensions: 320(L)X128.70(W)X57.30(H)mm. Do not mind the pixelated images of the card, that is courtesy of ASUS who had such images in the gallery section of the product page of the card at the time of writing and publishing this article.

The front of the card has black and silvery accents all over the shroud. The middle fan has the ROG sticker and the other two fans have ROG logo stickers. There is also RADEON and ROG STRIX branding on the card as can be seen in the image above with a small GAME ON text close to the bottom left of the front of the card. And there are 6 screws that are also visible on the shroud. Also to be noted is the fact that the RGB light from the top LED strip bleeds through the top half of the shroud and can be seen on and under the fans.

The back of the card has a full length metal back plate with cut outs for air to flow through. Just as the front, the back plate also has a few silver accents with a Silver ROG logo (surprised that it is not backlit). There is also a cut out under the GPU for the GPU bracket showing the capacitors. It also has a Dual BIOS Switch.

The top is fairly closed with the "Reinforced Frame" (as ASUS calls it) and the shroud that has strips that lets the all important RGB to shine through and at the middle of the all covering shroud is the - one more ROG logo, I guess that's what you pay the premium for -  the ROG logo. Also there are 2x 8-pin PCIe power connectors.

On the side, as all cards this card also has an I/O shield made of Stainless Steel with vent like cut outs. It has 1x HDMI 2.1 and 3x Display Ports 1.4a. Below are a few more images of the card if you care to look at them.

Specifications:

The ASUS ROG STRIX Radeon RX 6800 as all other RX 6800 (non-XTs) has 3840 Stream Processors in 60 Compute Units paired with 16GB GDDR6 memory on a 256 bit bus. It has 1x HDMI 2.1 and 3x Display Ports 1.4a supporting 4 monitors simultaneously. ASUS recommends a 650W PSU for the card. The card also has DUAL BIOS functionality. There are also 2 extra PWM fan headers that you can connect your case / chassis fans to so that they ramp up and down based on the GPU temperatures and the fan curves that you set for them. ASUS have not yet provided any information regarding the clock speeds on the card considering it will be a factory overclocked version.

Reports suggest that AIB RX 6800 (non-XT) and RX 6800 XT will go up on sale starting November 25th and also that will be the date for review embargo to lift up on AIB cards.
