10 days ago we posted about the CompuBench performance of the Intel IRIS Xe Max discrete mobile GPUs which is meant to compete with Max-Q (mobile) GPUs like the 1050Ti Max-Q from NVIDIA. Well today we have benchmark scores and specifications of the Iris Xe Max GPU from the Geekbench database.

These benchmarks were initially found and shared by @TUM_APISAK on twitter. For those of you who do not know, the Iris Xe MAX branding from Intel is meant for discrete mobile graphics solutions (to compete with the likes of Radeon RX 5500M and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q Design) where as the Iris Xe graphics are integrated graphics solution from Intel (competing against something the integrated Vega and RDNA2 graphics solutions (leaked roadmap suggests RDNA2 will be an iGPU solution for upcoming AMD Rembrandt APUs)).

Coming to the specifications of the Intel Iris Xe Max graphics it has 96 CUs (Compute Units) running at 1.5GHz with 3GB VRAM. This discrete mobile GPU achieved 11885 OpenCL Score when paired with a 6 core 12 thread Intel Core i7 8700 running 4.6GHz.

Comparing it to previously leaked Intel's desktop graphics solution DG1 which has the same 96CUs but ran at a 50MHz higher speed at 1.55GHz it scored a total of 22064 points which is an impressive 85% faster than the mobile graphics solution aka Intel Iris Xe Max GPU.

So what do you think about Intel getting into the discrete graphics solutions for laptops and desktops? Do let us know down in the comments section below.
