Ryzen 3000 CPU Overclocking Just Got Easier With ClockTuner For Ryzen

Ryzen Zen2 processor support list for ClockTuner for Ryzen by @1smus

AMD released their Ryzen 3000 Series CPUs last year in the month of July. With this release AMD effectively moved towards a chiplet design i.e. multi-die chips on a single package. Since then, we all know Ryzen overclocking is a bit more complicated, not just raising the voltage (or lowering the voltage i.e. Under-volting) to gain more boost clock frequency but also requiring to tune the Infinity fabric and the RAM frequency to gain the most performance, compared to overclocking an Intel chip.

Well the good news now is that @1smus, who is also the responsible author for the well know "DRAM Calculator for Ryzen" will tomorrow release his new tool named "ClockTuner for Ryzen" which is supposed to overclock your AMD Ryzen 3000 as well as the AMD Threadripper CPUs while simultaneously undervolting it to both improve performance and to decrease power consumption of your CPU there-by effectively reducing the temperatures.

Though we do not know much of the tool yet, what we know so far is that the tool is Free for everybody to use and it has been effective in overclocking the Ryzen 3000 CPUs as well as the AMD Threadripper 3970X and 3960X.

The tool will be released by @1usmus tomorrow i.e. on Tuesday on 29th September at 19:00 (GMT+3) or 8:30PM IST. The download link for the tool will be updated here as soon as the tool goes live tomorrow. The manuals for the tool will be released in 3 different languages initially and will be available through guru3d.com for the English version, computerbase.de for the German version and overclockers.ua for the French version.

Note that we suggest you to read the manuals/guides in your respective languages before you try out the ClockTuner for Ryzen Tool.

The tool is effective in the real-world as you can see there have been screenshots shared by the users/testers confirming that they got higher and better performance out of their Ryzen and Threadripper CPUs after they tuned them with the ClockTuner for Ryzen tool. You can see the same from the images below.

Ryzen 9 3950X Tuned with CTR

Threadripper 3970X Tuned with CTR

Note that as good as this tool is, it does not guarantee a definite performance improvement over the clocks that your chip is currently able to hit. It eventually comes down to silicon lottery and which chip overclocks higher than its suggested boost clocks. But then you can use this tool to tune in your CPU to reduce its power-consumption.

It is also to be noted that this tool does not support and 1st and 2nd gen Ryzen CPUs. The support list of the CPUs that are supported by the tool is available in the first image at the top of the article.
