Google is claiming that People Cards are meant for influencers, entrepreneurs, prospective employees, self employed individuals, free lancers and anyone else out there who wants to be discovered on the internet,  or for anyone who is looking to build their online presence or for people who might have a website or social profiles that are spread across the internet. Google is wishing to solve all of this with its new feature named People Cards. Google is calling it a virtual visiting card where you can highlight your existing websites or social profiles you want people to visit or other additional information about yourself that you want other people to know about you.

Lauren Clark, Product Manager, Google Search was quoted as saying to Gadgets 360:

You may be wondering why we are launching this feature to India first, we are always looking for new ways to make search more useful for people, and we found that there were unique information needs to India that we could help serve first.

He also added, "People Cards feature is limited to India for the time being and there are no expansion plans to share right now."

It is very easy to add your profile to People Cards, all you need to do is in your browser search for your name or search for 'add me to search' and tap on 'Get started' on the prompt that appears in Google Search. To start building your card you can choose to include your photo from your Google account, add a description of yourself, links to your website or social profiles, and if you want, a phone number or an email address.

Google is claiming that with People Cards it is aiming to provide "helpful and reliable information" and to maintain the quality of information, they have a variety of "protections and controls" in place. Only 1 People Card is allowed with 1 Google Account and a phone number is required to authenticate the account. Google also claims that they have a number of mechanisms to protect against abusive or spammy content and if we come across low quality information or a card that we believe was created by an impersonator then we can tap the feedback link to let Google know of it. You can also delete your People Card anytime you wish to. Last time we checked this feature is only available on mobile phones and not on PCs.
